“For years, I tried to hide it” – Thomas
Hair loss can really affect your self-confidence. For Thomas Broeders, a content creator and influencer, it started at a young age. What began as a minor source of insecurity gradually grew into something that affected his daily life. These days, he has a clear routine that helps him look after his hair as best he can. Thomas openly shares how his hair loss began, how it affected him emotionally, and which products he now uses to keep his hair as strong as possible.
Thomas began experiencing hair loss at a relatively early age. “I suffer from hereditary hair loss, which has left me with noticeably thinning hair.” Androgenetic alopecia, better known as hereditary hair loss, is common among men. It causes the hair to gradually thin out, often at the hairline and crown.
For Thomas, the problem gradually became more noticeable, which eventually led him to seek solutions.
Thomas’s favourite hair products
To support his hair as effectively as possible, Thomas uses a combination of products.
Contains 1% Piroctone olamine, also effective against dandruff
seven powerful plant extracts including Ecklonia cava and Raspberry ketone
the hair growth molecules Caffeine and Niacinamide
Argan oil and Cinnamon oil to care for the scalp and hair
Contains many high-quality ingredients in a high dosage, making this a rich, conditioning conditioner.
The conditioner nourishes the hair, cares for the scalp and thus provides healthier, stronger and shinier hair.
In addition, the conditioner has a hair growth stimulating effect.
As potent as the 5% spray, but more user-friendly and gentle on the skin.
The foam does not contain propylene glycol, a common cause of itching and redness in spray users.
The foam form absorbs faster than spray and does not leave a greasy film.
The form of Minoxidil we recommend for most men.
The 5% concentration has been shown to be more effective than 2% in stimulating hair growth.
Minoxidil can provide visible hair growth after 4 months with effective use.
Hair fibers consist of keratin that binds to thinning, fine hairs via static electricity.
In an instant, hair appears thicker and thinner areas on the scalp are camouflaged.
The effect of hair fibers is natural and invisible to other people around you.
Thomas has now established a regular routine. “I take the supplements every day, start and end the day with minoxidil and, to top it off, on special occasions, I use the hair fibres.”
He also pays close attention to his hair care. “Once a week, I give my hair a thorough wash with shampoo and conditioner, massaging it in with the HGS brush.”
For Thomas, hair loss had not only a physical but also an emotional impact. “It took a toll on my self-confidence and hindered my daily life.” He noticed he was increasingly preoccupied with hiding his hair. “Windows had to stay closed, I always had to carry a cap, hat or hood, and every photo had to be taken so that nothing was visible.” Situations like these are familiar to many people experiencing hair loss.
The moment he really felt insecure
Thomas still remembers clearly the first time his hair really made him feel insecure. “The first time I can remember it really affecting me was when I was 18 and went to the beach with my in-laws.”
When he came out of the water, something happened that stuck with him. “My girlfriend’s younger sister started laughing when I came out of the water with my wet hair slicked back and wouldn’t stop commenting on how I had a ‘grandad’s’ hairline.” Moments like that can linger for a long time and affect someone’s self-image.
What he would advise his younger self
If Thomas could go back to the moment his hair loss began, he would give himself one important piece of advice. “That there are solutions and you can only find them by talking about it with others.”
In his view, being open about it could have saved him a lot of anxiety. “That way, hopefully I wouldn’t have struggled with it in silence for years.”
His message for others experiencing hair loss
Finally, Thomas has a clear message for people currently struggling with hair loss. “It’s nothing to feel bad about, because ultimately it’s something almost everyone goes through at some point.” In his view, openness can actually help. “By being open about it, others can also offer you the insights you need to overcome this.”
