Neuza is 27, Portuguese and lives in the Netherlands. Over the past few years, she has travelled a lot and lived in Malta for a while, among other places. It was there that she started to notice that her hair was changing. It became thinner and weaker, and eventually her hairline in particular started to make her feel insecure. Her sister told her about minoxidil. Neuza was quite sceptical at first, but decided to try it anyway. She has now been using minoxidil for seven months, and for her, the difference is significant.
During her time in Malta, Neuza noticed that the condition of her hair was deteriorating. She personally feels that the water quality there may have played a role. “My hair became weaker and thinner.”
At some point, her sister also started to notice the change, including in the TikTok videos Neuza made. The difference became increasingly visible, especially around her hairline. “I felt like I had no hair left around my hairline.”
Sceptical about a solution
Eventually, her sister told her about minoxidil. Neuza was not immediately convinced. “I wasn’t really thinking about it and I was sceptical at first. Because you often see products being promoted online and none of them work.”
That scepticism did not come out of nowhere. Neuza had already looked into other possible causes and solutions. She went to the doctor and had blood tests done, but no deficiencies were found. She also started taking vitamins, including biotin. “I did start taking vitamins such as biotin, but it didn’t do anything for me.”
Meanwhile, the hair loss was having an increasing impact on the way she saw herself. “Hair loss as a woman gave me a poor self-image. That’s why I have very few photos from that time, only a few, but I feel so much better now that I have more hair.”
Seeing her hairline in particular made her feel insecure. “The moment I saw the hair loss and saw the hairline on my forehead, I thought: I can’t go to work like this.”
Trying minoxidil after all
Despite her doubts, Neuza decided to follow her sister’s advice and try minoxidil. She soon felt that something was changing. “After three months, my hair had improved enormously!”
She has now been using minoxidil for seven months and has no intention of stopping. For Neuza, the biggest surprise was that she had finally found something that she personally noticed results from. By nature, she is critical of products and solutions that are promoted online.
“I have to be honest: I was surprised that it wasn’t a scam. So many things are promoted online and there is so much nonsense on TikTok. Nothing I had used worked until now. I’m happy that I’ve finally found something that works.”

Minoxidil is not the only thing Neuza has changed. She also tries to manage stress more consciously and has made her daily life calmer. “Avoiding stress has become an important factor in my life. I live a calm life and I’m conscious of that.”
She also drinks more water and tries to style her hair differently. Nowadays, she uses less gel. As a result, she more often chooses a natural look instead of a very sleek hairstyle.
For Neuza, her approach is therefore about several things at the same time: “Less stress. Making life simpler. And making minoxidil part of your daily routine.”
Minoxidil as a regular routine
Neuza does not find using minoxidil every day complicated. “It’s very easy. I also like it when products have a strong smell. When it smells like medicine, for example, and not like perfume. Then you know it works. So the moment I smelled minoxidil, I knew it was going to work!”
She uses minoxidil twice a day. Especially in the beginning, she says it requires some patience. “At first, it’s just boring to use because you don’t see much result. But after a week, I already saw results. And after three months, my hair was already amazing.”
By consistently making it part of her day, it has now become a regular habit.
“You’re not bald anymore”
Her sister also saw how much had changed. After all, she was the one who initially advised Neuza to try minoxidil. “My sister was also really happy to see that it worked. She said: ‘You’re not bald anymore, you have to pay me for this advice.’ She even uses it herself now.”
For Neuza, the result ultimately means more than just a change in her hair. It has also affected the way she feels about herself. “I feel so much better now that I have more hair.”
